About Plumb adzes
Plumb was an American edge tool maker based in Philadelphia, producing striking and chopping tools from the 19th century well into the 20th. The recorded sales reflect that range: hewing and side axes, carpenter's and lipped adzes, hatchets, and nail, ball peen, and finishing hammers, including the Autograph hammer line. Value tracks condition and originality, so unused stock with original paint, intact decals, and a matching sheath sits well above a sharpened user with a replaced handle. Unusual patterns such as the Girl Scout hatchet and small ounce-rated hammers draw separate interest, and clear head stamps help.
The 3 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (3), and run from 2021 to 2023.
