About Ohio Tool bench planes
Ohio Tool Co. worked out of Columbus, Ohio, from the mid-19th century until the early 20th, and was one of the largest American producers of wooden bench, moulding, plow and rabbet planes. The wooden jointers, screw-stop dado planes and plow planes here are the core of that output, alongside a smaller line of cast-iron bench and block planes and socket chisels and slicks. Boxwood or ivory fittings and complete sets of cutters lift a plow plane, while cracks in the fence arms or a shortened body pull it down. Iron planes such as the No. 04 1/2 and No. 2 smoother, the corrugated versions and the adjustable-mouth block planes were made in far smaller numbers than the Stanley equivalents, so intact japanning, full irons and crisp markings matter most on those.
The 27 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (24) and Ted Dawson Antique Tools (3), and run from 2020 to 2026; 4 closed in the last twelve months.
