About Metallic Plane Co. block planes
The Metallic Plane Co. worked in Auburn, New York, making cast-iron bench and joinery planes in the later nineteenth century, several of them built on Palmer and Storke patents. Block planes account for most recorded sales, though the shop's output also covered jointers, plow planes, and filletsters, and that range shows in the titles here. Value follows the patented refinements and completeness: tail-handle block planes with adjustable mouths and adjustable cutter mechanisms stand above plain versions, and plow and moving filletster planes need their fence and stop present. Casting cracks, replaced irons, and missing fittings pull an example down.
The 13 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (12) and Ted Dawson Antique Tools (1), and run from 2021 to 2026; 1 closed in the last twelve months.
