About Clifton
Clifton is an English plane maker based in Sheffield, producing Bedrock-pattern bench planes and shoulder planes in the modern era. The bench planes in the No. 3 through No. 6 range and the shoulder and rabbet planes numbered 400, 410, 420 and 3110 are the core of the output, alongside spokeshaves such as the No. 550 concave. Condition drives value heavily, since these are recent enough that unused examples in their original boxes are common; the larger bench sizes and the heavier shoulder planes bring more than the small ones. Completeness matters on the multi-plane and on the 3110, which needs both nose pieces to be right.
