About Dunlap
Dunlap was Sears, Roebuck's economy house brand in the mid-twentieth century, positioned below Craftsman and made under contract by established American toolmakers, so quality varies with whoever built a given item. Bench and block planes are the most common survivors, alongside braces, drawknives and saw-filing accessories like the aluminum-handled No. 4882 jointer. Condition drives value more than the brand: unused examples in their original boxes, such as the No. 3678 drawknife, stand well above worn users, while planes missing irons, totes or adjusters have little beyond working value.
