About Goodell-Pratt
Goodell-Pratt was a Greenfield, Massachusetts toolmaker of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, marketed under the Toolsmiths name and absorbed by Millers Falls in the early 1930s. The firm is best known for hand drills and braces, and the sample reflects that with two-speed and multi-speed eggbeaters, dual pinion and ratcheting corner and joist braces, alongside wooden levels. Value follows intact original finish, clean chuck jaws and smooth gearing, undamaged rosewood or cocobolo handles, and complete bit sets in hollow handles. Brass-bound mahogany levels want unclouded vials and tight bindings, and a precision level still in its box carries more than a loose one.
