About Greenfield
Greenfield Tool Co. made wooden planes in Greenfield, Massachusetts during the mid to late 19th century; the drawknives here are stamped Greenlee, an Illinois edge tool and boring machine firm. The plane side covers bench and joinery work, with sash coping planes, panel raisers, nosing planes and complex moulders, while the drawknives run in the 8 to 10 inch range, including folding-handle patterns. Screw arm plow planes and complex moulders with crisp, unworn profiles bring more than plain hollows and rounds, and clear maker and size stamps, full boxing, intact wedges and all original arms, nuts and handles matter; checks, worn soles, pitted blades and replaced parts pull value down.
