About T.H. Witherby

T.H. Witherby was an American edge tool maker working in the 19th and early 20th centuries, with production in Massachusetts and later Connecticut. The name is best known for chisels and timber framing tools, and the socket slicks, corner chisels, and drawknives here are the typical output. Wide slicks in the 3 to 4 inch range bring more than narrow sizes, as do clear stamps, full blade length with plenty of steel above the bevel, and sound original handles; pitting, shortened blades, mushroomed sockets, and replaced handles pull an example down.
