About Ulmia
Ulmia is a German maker from Ulm, known through the 20th century for woodworking benches and traditional continental hand tools. The bench planes here are the classic horned German pattern in beech, including jointers and smoothers, alongside swan neck mortise chisels for cleaning out lock mortises. Reform models with a lignum vitae or hornbeam wear sole bring more than plain-bodied examples, as do larger jointers and planes still carrying their original box and label. Check the sole for wear and the iron for remaining length, and expect chisels to be priced by width.
