About Sorby 3/4 inch chisels

Sorby is a Sheffield edge tool name, with I. Sorby carrying the Punch trademark and Robert Sorby still producing turning tools in England today. The bulk of the output recorded here is edge tools, and the chisels, gouges and paring chisels with boxwood handles are the core of that work, alongside brass-back saws and occasional braces and planes. Value follows the mark and the details: early split-nut brass-back saws, clear Punch stamps, and Ultimatum-pattern braces in rosewood and beech carry more than later stamps. Uncracked original handles, full blade length ahead of the etch, and clean unpitted steel matter most; replaced handles and heavily shortened saw plates pull an example down.

The 14 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (14), and run from 2020 to 2025. 1 listing for sets, pairs or lots of Sorby 3/4 inch chisels was left out, because a set's price is not one tool's price.
