About Record No. 50 combination planes

Record planes were made by C. & J. Hampton in Sheffield, England, and the brand became one of the main British sources for bench, rebate and specialty planes through the twentieth century. The numbering follows Stanley's pattern closely, so the 04 smooth plane, 09 1/2 block plane and 080 cabinet scraper in the range correspond to familiar American equivalents, alongside plow, combination and shoulder planes and the well-known Record vises. Condition and completeness drive value most: plow and combination planes need their full cutter sets, fences and depth stops, as the 043 missing its stop shows. Original cardboard boxes, intact decals and unsharpened irons add to an example; pitting, replaced parts and cracked handles subtract.

The 9 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (9), and run from 2020 to 2026; 1 closed in the last twelve months.
