These are different markets, not a contradiction. Dealers list restored, checked tools and price accordingly; marketplaces carry everything from collector-grade down to parts. Compare within a row, not across the table.

About Auburn moulding planes
Auburn Tool Co. worked in Auburn, New York during the nineteenth century, producing wooden bench and moulding planes with much of the labor supplied by the state prison there. Beech moulding planes make up the bulk of the output, and the sample reflects that with center beads, quarter rounds, complex moulders, skew rabbets with nickers, and sash coping profiles. Value climbs with the more involved forms: screw arm sash and plow planes, and plows made in solid rosewood or ebony rather than beech. Crisp unworn profiles, intact boxing, a clear maker's stamp, matching original wedges and irons, and undamaged arms and nuts separate a good example from a user.
The 19 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (11), Hyperkitten (4), Jim Bode Tools (2) and 1 other source, and run from 2021 to 2026; 7 closed in the last twelve months. 6 listings for sets, pairs or lots of Auburn moulding planes were left out, because a set's price is not one tool's price.
