About J. Kellogg moulding planes

J. Kellogg was a nineteenth-century American wooden plane maker working in Amherst, Massachusetts. The output centers on beech bench and moulding planes, and the recorded work runs from common side beads and hollows through skew rabbets, long jointers and screw-arm plow planes. Value follows wood and form first: solid boxwood or rosewood plows with intact screw arms, nuts and depth stops sit well above a standard beech bead, as do unusual configurations such as a double or side-by-side left and right bead. Crisp, unworn mouldings with legible maker and size stamps, full length and no wedge or boxing damage bring the most.

The 10 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (7), Hyperkitten (2) and Jim Bode Tools (1), and run from 2021 to 2026; 3 closed in the last twelve months. 2 listings for sets, pairs or lots of J. Kellogg moulding planes were left out, because a set's price is not one tool's price.
