| Marketplaces | — | $304 |
These are different markets, not a contradiction. Dealers list restored, checked tools and price accordingly; marketplaces carry everything from collector-grade down to parts. Compare within a row, not across the table.

Asking prices run higher than sold prices. Sellers post hopefully, and unsold listings linger; treat the sold figures above as the real signal.
About Mathieson moulding planes
Alexander Mathieson & Son was a Glasgow toolmaker working through the 19th and into the 20th century, supplying a broad range of edge tools, planes and braces across Scotland and beyond. The recorded sales lean toward infill and wooden bench planes, moulding and plow planes, chisels and levels, with brass-back saws and Scotch-pattern braces also turning up. Gunmetal and ebony braces, patent spring-lock mechanisms, and longer jointers in clean beech carry more weight than plain examples, as do crisp maker's stamps, full-length irons, and complete boxwood or brass fittings; splits, worn soles, replaced wedges and pitted saw plates pull an example down.
The 13 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (10), Hyperkitten (2) and Ted Dawson Antique Tools (1), and run from 2022 to 2026; 6 closed in the last twelve months. 2 listings for sets, pairs or lots of Mathieson moulding planes were left out, because a set's price is not one tool's price.
