About Union moulding planes

Union Manufacturing Co. of New Britain, Connecticut, made bench and specialty planes from the late 19th century until Stanley bought the company in 1920. Bench planes are the bulk of the output, along with combination planes, circular planes like the No. 113, and the No. 60 cabinet scraper; several patterns parallel Stanley numbers, as with the tail-handle block plane. The X-series vertical post smoothers, such as the XOA, and uncommon sizes like the No. 4 1/2 draw more interest than standard smoothers. Intact japanning, full-length irons, unbroken totes, and original boxes or labels raise value; rust, cracked castings, and replaced parts cut it.

The 10 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (8), Hyperkitten (1) and Jim Bode Tools (1), and run from 2021 to 2026; 5 closed in the last twelve months. 1 listing for sets, pairs or lots of Union moulding planes was left out, because a set's price is not one tool's price.
