About St. Johnsbury Tool Co. squares
A Vermont firm working in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, St. Johnsbury Tool Co. built try squares and bevels rather than a broad tool line. The sample is typical: rosewood-infilled try squares in sizes from 3 to 12 inches, plus sliding bevels made under Robinson's patent, a pattern associated with the maker. Larger blades, clean rosewood free of cracks or shrinkage, tight blade-to-stock fit, and legible stamping lift an example; on the bevels the patent locking mechanism should work smoothly, and pitted or resharpened blades and loose infill pull value down.
The 17 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Tools (12) and Jim Bode Value Guide (5), and run from 2022 to 2026; 14 closed in the last twelve months.
