These are different markets, not a contradiction. Dealers list restored, checked tools and price accordingly; marketplaces carry everything from collector-grade down to parts. Compare within a row, not across the table.

Asking prices run higher than sold prices. Sellers post hopefully, and unsold listings linger; treat the sold figures above as the real signal.
About Veritas back saws
Veritas is the tool-making brand of Lee Valley Tools, a Canadian company that has produced its own bench planes, saws, and layout tools in Ottawa since the 1980s. These are current-production tools rather than antiques, and the range recorded here — low-angle smooth planes, shoulder and router planes, dovetail and carcass saws, marking gauges and bevel squares — reflects the core of the line. Condition drives value, since new examples remain available: unused tools in original boxes hold the most, as do planes with PM-V11 blades or extra cutters. Discontinued items such as the shooting board plane and miniature edge plane, and complete sets with fences and rods, stand above bare or worn examples.
The 24 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (14), Ted Dawson Antique Tools (7), Jim Bode Tools (2) and 1 other source, and run from 2021 to 2026; 6 closed in the last twelve months.
