About Norris
Norris was a London planemaker active from the 19th century into the mid-20th, and its name is tied to metal-bodied infill planes fitted with a patented screw adjuster for depth and lateral movement. The range runs from small bullnose and rabbet planes such as the No. 8 and No. 25 through smoothers like the No. 13 and A5 up to jointers over 20 inches, with the A prefix marking the adjustable models. Pre-war work, dovetailed steel bodies rather than cast iron, rosewood or ebony infill, an intact original adjuster, and a long unshortened iron all raise value; later post-war examples, replaced irons, cracked or repaired infill, and heavy pitting pull it down.
