About X-Acto knives

X-Acto is an American brand of hobby and craft cutting tools, widely sold from the mid-20th century onward and best known for slim aluminum-handled knives with interchangeable pointed blades. The recorded knife sales reflect that core product, while the No. 40 miniature Bakelite block plane comes from the range of small modeling tools the company sold alongside its knives. Complete original boxes, intact blade sets, and unbroken Bakelite or plastic parts matter most, since the knives themselves were produced in large numbers; miniature planes with cracks or missing wedges and cutters are worth much less.

The 1 sale behind these figures comes from Jim Bode Value Guide (1), all in 2023.
