About Stanley No. 66 moulding planes

Stanley is an American toolmaker based in New Britain, Connecticut, and its hand tool lines dominated the trade from the late 19th century through the mid 20th. The Bailey-pattern bench planes shown here, from the small No. 2 smoother up through the No. 5 1/2 jack, are the core of that output, alongside block planes, combination and plow planes, braces, router planes, rules and gauges. Value tracks model scarcity and completeness: small castings like the No. 2 and full combination planes with their cutters bring more than common No. 4 and No. 5 sizes, Sweetheart-era marks on irons and saw plates add a premium, and items still boxed, such as a No. 49 auger bit gauge, outrank worn users with pitting, cracks or replaced parts.

The 8 sales behind these figures come from Ted Dawson Antique Tools (4), Jim Bode Value Guide (3) and Jim Bode Tools (1), and run from 2023 to 2026; 3 closed in the last twelve months.
