These are different markets, not a contradiction. Dealers list restored, checked tools and price accordingly; marketplaces carry everything from collector-grade down to parts. Compare within a row, not across the table.
About Lufkin 12 inch squares
Lufkin was an American measuring-tool maker based in Saginaw, Michigan, producing rules, tapes, squares and machinist layout tools from the late 19th century well into the 20th. The range here is typical: boxwood folding and caliper rules, steel tapes, bevels, levels and precision shop gauges. Boxwood-and-brass rules in crisp condition with legible markings carry more than worn or stained examples, and unusual patterns such as the No. 42 shipwright's bevel or wide-body caliper rules stand above common folding rules. Machinist items like the No. 58 level or No. 900 planer gauge do better complete and in their original boxes.
The 13 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (13), and run from 2021 to 2024.
