These are different markets, not a contradiction. Dealers list restored, checked tools and price accordingly; marketplaces carry everything from collector-grade down to parts. Compare within a row, not across the table.

About Russell Jennings auger bits
Russell Jennings was an American bit maker in Connecticut whose double-twist pattern auger bits became the standard for brace work; the company was later absorbed by Stanley, which continued the line under both names. The recorded sales are all auger bits, from single sizes numbered in sixteenths of an inch to boxed and loose sets. Large or uncommon sizes such as the No. 20 and No. 21 carry more weight than the common middle numbers, and complete sets in their original wooden or cardboard boxes stand well above user-grade groupings. Full-length spurs and lead screws with sharp threads, clear etching, and no rust pitting separate a collectible bit from a working one.
The 21 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (20) and Ted Dawson Antique Tools (1), and run from 2020 to 2026; 7 closed in the last twelve months. 241 listings for sets, pairs or lots of Russell Jennings auger bits were left out, because a set's price is not one tool's price.
