About Spear & Jackson 8 inch back saws

Spear & Jackson is a Sheffield, England firm that has made saws and edge tools since the 19th century and still trades today. Saws are the core of the output, and the backsaws here cover the usual range: brass-back dovetail saws and 12 and 14 inch carcass saws, alongside open-handle rip and hand saws, chisels, gouges and a saw maker's hammer. Brass backs, crisp etches and clear maker's stamps, full plate depth with little sharpening loss, and an uncracked handle with intact horns raise value, while pitting, shortened plates and replaced handles lower it.

The 9 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (6) and Ted Dawson Antique Tools (3), and run from 2020 to 2026; 2 closed in the last twelve months.
