About C.E. Jennings drawknives
C.E. Jennings & Co. was an American edge tool and boring tool maker based in New York, active through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The name is most closely tied to auger and boring machine bits, though the range extended to socket chisels, backsaws and drawknives of the kinds shown here. Value follows size and usable steel: long socket firmer chisels with full length left, wide corner chisels, and drawknives with straight unpitted edges and sound handles do best. Brass-back dovetail and tenon saws want crisp etching, an uncracked handle, and plate that has not been cut down or heavily reshaped.
The 18 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (16), Jim Bode Tools (1) and Ted Dawson Antique Tools (1), and run from 2020 to 2026; 1 closed in the last twelve months.
