About Craftsman knives
Craftsman is the Sears house brand in the United States, with tools made under contract by outside manufacturers rather than in Sears plants. Recorded sales run to benchtop and floor machinery like drill presses, table saws and band saws alongside hand tools, and the planes and braces here reflect that outsourcing: block planes patterned on Stanley's No. 65 and 9 1/2 and one example marked as Sargent work. Value tracks the underlying maker and pattern, so low-angle block planes with adjustable mouths and heavy-duty 10-inch braces sit above the common grades. On machines, a complete original fence, table and motor matter more than the badge, and the numbered model prefix identifies who built it.
