About Upson Nut Co. 24 inch rules

Upson Nut Co. was an American hardware manufacturer based in Connecticut in the late nineteenth century, better known for fasteners than for tools. The recorded sales here are boxwood folding rules, including two-foot four-fold patterns and a folding caliper rule, along with an occasional block plane with an adjustable mouth. Value follows crispness of the markings and graduations, tight joints and unsplit boxwood, and the presence of complete brass fittings; numbered patterns such as the No. 62, No. 62 1/2 and the No. 36 1/2 caliper rule are identified by the stamp, and worn, sprung or repaired examples fall well back.
