These are different markets, not a contradiction. Dealers list restored, checked tools and price accordingly; marketplaces carry everything from collector-grade down to parts. Compare within a row, not across the table.

About Ward rules

Ward was a Sheffield, England edge tool maker whose stamped blades circulated widely through the 19th century; the name also appears on American retail goods from Montgomery Ward, a separate firm. The chisels and gouges are the core of the output, and the paring, pig sticker mortise and swan neck mortise chisels in the listings are the usual forms, along with irons fitted to infill and bench planes. Value follows length and width of usable steel above the socket or bolster, intact original handles in boxwood or beech, a crisp maker's stamp, and freedom from pitting, regrinding or a shortened blade; unused stock and boxed items sit at the top.
