About Westcott rules

Westcott is an American rule maker with roots in Seneca Falls, New York, and the name survives today as a brand of drafting and office measuring tools. Its output in the woodworking world is almost entirely rules — boxwood, wood, and later metal and plastic straightedges and flat rules rather than folding joinery rules with complex scales. Value on any given example rests on legible markings and graduations, uncracked stock, clean brass tips or bindings where fitted, and whether the original box or label survives; worn numerals, warping, and shortened or chipped ends pull an example down.
