About Rabone levels

John Rabone & Sons was a Birmingham, England firm that made measuring tools through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, later merging with Chesterman. Boxwood folding and caliper rules are the core of their output, alongside spirit levels in rosewood, mahogany and brass. Numbered patterns such as the 1206, 1375 and 1461 help identify a rule, and value follows crisp legible graduations, tight joints, unworn brass and unsplit boxwood. Iron and German silver fittings and unused condition add.
