These are different markets, not a contradiction. Dealers list restored, checked tools and price accordingly; marketplaces carry everything from collector-grade down to parts. Compare within a row, not across the table.

Asking prices run higher than sold prices. Sellers post hopefully, and unsold listings linger; treat the sold figures above as the real signal.
About Kelly Works axes
Kelly was an American axe maker, later absorbed into True Temper, with the Kelly Works stamp appearing on heads produced in West Virginia through the middle of the twentieth century. Axes are the whole of the output seen here, and the two lines named in these heads reflect the range: Flint Edge was the higher grade, Woodslasher the economy line. Weight and stamp legibility drive value, with clear brand etching, a full unfiled poll and cheeks, and no mushrooming or grinder damage counting most; heavily reprofiled or pitted heads count least.
The 29 sales behind these figures come from Jim Bode Value Guide (27), Hyperkitten (1) and Ted Dawson Antique Tools (1), and run from 2020 to 2026; 4 closed in the last twelve months.
